FAQs

Is it really free?

Yep. Free members are allowed to view profiles, e-mail (you show interest in them, they in you, and then you can then e-mail them [max 1 per day]), and see limited pictures for free. So the site is completely usable without paying.

We do not accept any payments at this time. Any payments we may accept in the future will only be accepted by check. This is for a few reasons the main one being ease of proving you are who you say you are.

You do however have better searches, complete e-mail abilities, viewing all pictures, and other features if you are a paid member of the site. Our preferred prices start at $50/yr (less than $5/month)! However, we also do allow people to pick their own price for memberships as well (up to $50 is sapphire, $50-100 is diamond) -- the same as Everywhere's Local (which is actually us!).

Standard members do have to wait 7 days to view a new registered person. Once the 7 days are up, they can view them as much as they like.
[Our middle plan has a 3 day wait before they can view new members]

Why are you listed as an adult site, yet there's no nudity, obscene language, etc?

Any "dating" or "personals" website is automatically listed as a "high risk adult website". This includes being able to process credit cards, as well as age-restrictions. Even a religious dating website is considered a high-risk adult website! And you know there's not going to be nudity, or even close-ups of clothed chests, and probably not even a mention of sex on those!

For that reason, we have ourselves listed as:
Restricted to Adults (RTA)
Safesurf & ICRA ratings along the lines of "adult content due to sexual acts, explicit language, and nudity"

Now, we don't allow any of that on our website! However, if we were to say we didn't have that, child protection software wouldn't block us -- and we don't want children to access us.

If parents don't use software to block online content, there's no way to guarantee a person is an adult. Credit cards aren't allowed to be used for age verification (besides, under 18 year olds can have a credit/debit card).

In trying out some of the age verifications, not only could some of these systems confirm that I'm over 18 -- some of them said I was trying to falsely use my own identity! When testing out 10 different people we know (friends and family):
20% couldn't be verified as an adult, when they were
20% couldn't be verified as an child, when they were
20% could be verified as an adult, and they were
20% could be verified as an adult, and they weren't
20% could be verified as a child, and they were
Meaning:
40% couldn't be identified, so they'd be banned (despite half were of age)
40% were properly identified
20% was inaccurately identified as an adult

What's with the waiting period before we can view new members?

The waiting period is like this:

  • New person registers with us on the 1st
  • Diamond Plan can view them immediately
  • Sapphire Plan can view them in 3 days (the 4th)
  • Pearl "Free" Plan can view them in 7 days (the 8th)

We have this waiting plan for a few reasons. It helps to prevent the new member from being flooded with messages within a day of registering. And it makes the paying plans more desirable to our members (we are trying to make money!)

Are the people here real or fake?

We use an automated program to check all profiles, information and just other stuff related to all entries on our system. We then have a person check out all information (albeit, not as quick -- the program based approval is enough for it to be made visible, human check is for a final approval). It's quite possible for someone to post a personal ad that has no intention of following through; or is just trying to get you to a pay site -- please report these to us!

But for the most part, the more information a person enters, and the more completely the profile is filled out -- the greater chance they are actually "real". Paid members doesn't mean they are real, but they do have a chance of being more real than the free ones!

Why don't you provide a spell check?

Many if not most toolbars for internet browsers have a built-in spell checker. If you want to check your spelling, download one of them and use it. For us to include one online for our posts would require more resources, and wouldn't be used much anyway.

We do however plan on having a spell check available on-site after the launch. This will happen in a few weeks/months after.
